The good news about the Timberwolves season so far is that we are on pace to go 41-0 at home after a big home victory against the Jimmy Butler-less Heat. The bad news is the Wolves are on pace to go 0-41 on the road after two unfortunate losses in Toronto and Atlanta. For Timberwolves fans the road losses are frustrating especially last night in Atlanta where the team fell apart after leading 79-60 at half. While every game matters in the Western Conference this year and every loss makes fans worried about potential moves it will be important to keep perspective this season. The Timberwolves matchup with three Western Conference teams (DEN, UTAH, NO) in their four game home stand before a long west coast road trip. This stretch will tell us a lot about how this team is doing at least start the season. Timberwolves fans were treated to a great home opener Saturday against the Heat as Jimmy Butler “needed” rest in his second trip to Minnesota since a big loss in 2021. The Timberwolves played well against the short handed Heat which led to the crowd yelling “Where is Jimmy?” and him responding with kisses to his former fanbase. I have always been empathic of Jimmy’s time in Minnesota he never asked to play here however I do think it’s annoying he takes shots in the media at Minnesota and doesn’t have the killer instinct to play against them. Overall it is great to have Timberwolves basketball back! I am going to my first game of the season against Boston next Monday and I am ready to see the Wolves take on my personal title pick. I plan on posting weekly recaps for the Timberwolves all season long here on West Coast Hoops!

It is a very small sample size so I don’t want to overreact but he needs to shoot better especially from three. He looks like a better fit with Rudy than he did last year though on D. Rebounding has been great for both.
