What is a future? A future is an investment. It is the evaluation of talent, skill, experience, and potential. Cashing a future is the ultimate prize in sports betting. Season Win Totals, Division/Conference/Championship winners and more. These bets give us phenomenal odds that provide us with an exponential return compared to betting on a single game. The Houston Cougars will most likely be favored in every game they play this season but I have them at +1000 to win the national championship. It’s a long road there, but I feel good about my decision. That +1000 investment could look amazing compared to the -130 ML we get on the day of the final. This is why we do it. During the 2021-2022 NBA season I wasn’t involved with futures until I took Boston to win the Eastern Conference & NBA Championship. This was obviously an experience of highs and lows. Every year we get smarter, we have more to base our decisions off of, and I will continue to perfect my process of selecting futures. I learned that it’s much more important to focus on the CONFERENCE side of things because you have no idea how teams will match up in the finals especially with injuries ALWAYS being a factor. Yes, we are always taking a risk with futures, but you do the same with many investment opportunities out there.
