An Exercise in Expectation Management Timberwolves (18-5)

This week after blowing out a bad Memphis team on the road Friday night without Antony Edwards and Jaden Mcdaniels the Timberwolves traveled to New Orleans. As Mcdaniels returned Timberwolves fans of reddit and X (formerly Twitter) starting talking a big game about what the team will do to stop Zion Williamson who missed the first two battles with the Timberwolves. Sadly in a game without Antony Edwards Zion showed he was the best player on the floor. He scored thirty-six points on 13-17 shooting as the Timberwolves fell 121-107. With two days off between games I was able to read a lot of Wolves posts and I noticed that so many fans felt the season was ending because we lost. It is clear to me that our fanbase doesn’t know what to do with a great team because we have had so little flashes like this. After winning last night in Dallas 119-101 the Timberwolves have still not lost two straight games this season. Yet during a not so great first half where the Timberwolves led 60-59 at the break I saw so many tweets saying they were playing terrible. My message for all Timberwolves fans is simple. We will lose more games this year. It is a long season and we need to manage our expectations we probably won’t win seventy games. We need to enjoy these games because we deserve it for all that we have been through.
