2023 was very kind to the Minnesota Timberwolves as they entered the new year 24-7. To start 2024 however the Timberwolves lost two straight for the first time all season. Personally I am not panicking on the Timberwolves because they had two matchups against good teams between New York and New Orleans. The New York game was almost a comeback win despite OG Anunoby’s debut with the Knicks. The New Orleans loss last night will hurt fans because it was only our second loss in the Target Center this year. My big takeaway from last night was that Zion Williamson is amazing at basketball (Shocker right?). The game on Saturday vs the Lakers was electric after we took care of the Luka/Kyrie less Mavericks at home on Thursday. Going more into the Lakers game prior to the controversial two point call at the end the Wolves looked to be sitting pretty when Jaden Mcdaniels recieved a technical foul for yelling at a ref when he gave up an and-1 to end his night fouling out. I have seen a lot of people who are upset with Jaden about this and I can understand that frustartion however we have to remember that he is still a young player and that edge can also lead to many of the big moments we see when he is playing. This technical however led to Lebron’s shot where his foot was easily on the line no different than Kevin Durant in game 7 three years ago against Milwaukee when they lost to the eventual champions. Now don’t get me wrong I am a huge Lebron fan but to see the complaining that has gone out about this shot and the fake angles where you can’t see if he has the ball in his hand even are ridiculous. As we remember in Wolves nation every W matters and that is what the Wolves will look to do on the road against Houston, Dallas, Orlando, and Boston next week.
