The Timberwolves can’t just be a normal team preparing for the playoffs. This has nothing to do with the on court product yet who actually took care of the Nuggets 111-98 on Friday amid this drama. However on Thursday Morning a Woj bomb dropped that Glen Taylor owner of the Timberwolves since 1994 would not be selling his majority stake to Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore who he agreed to sell the team to for 1.5 Billion dollars in 2021. Rodriguez and Lore have been on a payment plan for the team since this purchase and are currently minority shareholders. Glen Taylor shocked everyone by saying the deadline had passed and he would retain his majority stake in what can be only be called in my opinion as a shady move by the former politician.

Make no mistake the only reason why the Timberwolves are still in Minnesota is because of Glen Taylor. He saved the team from moving in 1994 and his stable cash flow has kept the team in Minnesota. However he has done a grand total of two good basketball moves in the last thirty years (KG Draft Pick/Extension, KAT Draft Pick) including hiring people to run basketball. A-Rod and Lore went on the Dane Moore Podcast and revealed that Taylor didn’t believe current team President Tim Connelly would even consider coming to Minnesota prior to their ownership. They also argued that the controversial Rudy Gobert trade would not have happened under Taylor as he opposed it. This was less than shocking to me because Glen Taylor has proven in his thirty years as owner that he doesn’t know a good basketball move from a bad one including when he was suspended by the NBA for the Joe Smith incident.

I have no idea how this court case will work out. Lore’s group believes they had an iron-clad understanding in writing about his this payment plan would work. If I was a betting man I would bet Taylor has seller’s remorse now that the team has hit new heights. Last night the Wolves lost to the Bulls at home 109-101 which dropped them back to one game back of first in the West and third overall. I wish that this distraction was handled privately instead of in the public while the team plays it’s most important April in twenty years. The Wolves battle Houston and Toronto at home on Tuesday and Wednesday. At the Raptors game I will be chanting for Glen to finally to sell the team in person.
