I am not sure anyone reads this blog but I have always enjoyed writing it. That changed when KAT got moved. I was so frustrated going to the Target Center and not watching us finish the rebuild that we finally did the “right” way. So if your wondering where I have been I have been trying to fall in love with a team that made me angry. I have been to six games at the Target Center already this year and I see some of the love. Since Edwards called out the team publicly we have won six out of seven and our defense is back to formula. I went to both recent Laker games and saw a different team than the one who played in October one that could finish not in the play-in.
However last year we weren’t in the play-in so it begs the question as KAT makes his one return trip to Minneapolis tonight is are we better off? The answer to me is a resounding no. @TWolvesLead a popular X account with over 10k followers and I got into this debate this morning. Their argument is that if we kept an aging KAT at his salary we will lose NAW (who cares he’s currently the 9th most valuable player on our team IMO) and Naz Reid (6th man until we get rid of Julius or Rudy). They claimed losing those players will lead to an Edwards trade request.
This is a PSA for all Wolves fans I know we spent a decade being scared of the KAT trade request but when you want to win championships you shouldn’t care about a potential trade request. You know what stops trade requests winning the whole f**king thing. We were so close last year and we had our roster ready for this year and we didn’t even give them a shot and that is why I believe it was a bad move. All NBA talents don’t make their way to MN often especially ones as talented as KAT. Not to add everything he did for the organization and community.
It will be an emotional night for Wolves and Knicks players alike tonight. I will be on my couch thinking about what could have been with KAT’s legacy in MN as he dominates against us. This is my incredibly biased take about the trade as someone who finally saw hope when I waws 14 and we drafted him.
