The 2022-2023 Los Angles Lakers

For as long as LeBron James continues to defy Father Time, I will support and follow his team. Here are thoughts and articles on how things are going.

Current Stance: This team is irrelevant without Anthony Davis. LeBron gave us something to celebrate on his birthday and there are improving players on this roster, but there’s not much to be excited about. Something we can acknowledge is that Brown and AD have performed like a top NBA duo when on the court together and shown that they really can beat anyone. Russ has has great moments, and with his efforts off the bench I would really like to see hime stay on this roster. Reaves, Thomas Bryant, and Lonnie Walker are great pieces. Troy Brown, Kenyan Gabriel, and Dennies Schroder are suitable off the bench. This roster is only a few pieces away… MAKE THE TRADE. I cannot understand why it hasn’t been done and I will not be giving this franchise the same level of effort until they show us fans that they care about improving the team.

From December 18th:

10:45 PM Eastern Time. Second half of the Lakers game. This is the first game without AD and it’s time to really dive deep on what this roster holds. Stats will be via Dunks and Threes

At halftime the Lakers held a 14 point lead but this was soon tested. Rather than what happens in the game it’s just important to focus on the characters of this roster and how this Lakers team functions down the stretch. We will start with Reaves. I couldn’t help but smile and yell out REAVES when he extended the hand and made a steal in transition… and the same thing happened when he took his nightly charge, when he received MVP chants, or when he almost humbled Bradley Beal for a second getting the cheesy foul call. He is having so many great moments and is now one of the team’s most valuable players even getting the nickname “Mr. Fourth Quarter”.

… Then Reaves went down. And Max Christie came in. Laker fans have been very happy with the former Spartan as of late and he’s received a lot of praise on Twitter. We need him to play well and earn a role in the rotation and we need him to hit the three ball. Still, Reaves leaving is what triggered the 12-0 Wizards run that Russ ended with a free throw after a failed dunk attempt from Russ. Russ is such a polarizing player. He’s so on and off. The speed and flashes of MVP Russ are still entirely present sometimes, and it would almost make me sick to see him off this roster. What we are getting is CHEMISTRY… and like we see with Golden State, this is an unmatched advantage. And Lonnie is his perfect running mate. While these two could improve in the frontcourt, they are so beyond electric in transition. I try to watch some of every NBA game every night… They are just as exciting as anyone in the league. Lonnie is a freak athlete and this is something the team needs especially on the defensive end. We essentially traded Malik Monk for Lonnie Walker.. And I haven’t been too upset about it.

The lakers went down 8 and sure enough,

Reaves walked out of the locked room directly to the scores table. He returned to the game only to be benched fro trying to play hurt, and returned to the locker room.

The Bad: Damion Jones. The drives that Thomas finishes, he travels on. Sometimes it’s like he doesn’t know what to do with the ball and sometimes it’s like he doesn’t even want it. No feel and apparently no IQ considering the fact he’sm chucking threes. .

One thing we need to acknowledge is that with Bron, Russ, Lonnie, and others sometimes playing the part, the elements of the fast break LAKE SHOW really is here “this team in transition really looks like a different team”. Lonnie “Skywalker” is a phenomenal nickname I think we can all agree on that regardless of how you feel about the team.
