Sitting in the upper deck at a half empty Target Center last night I couldn’t believe what I saw from Karl-Antony Towns. It was the most points (44) in a first half since 1996-1997 beating Kobe’s 42 on 3/28/2003. The third quarter felt like a party as they finally grew the lead but the Hornets couldn’t miss shots in the fourth quarter. It was around when the Hornets went up 121-116 with around a minute to go that I figured we would lose even though KAT just broke his franchise record for points in a game (62). Some people will blame KAT for scoring 4 points in the fourth and having seven turnovers. However there are only two people I blame for last night’s loss. The first one is easy and that is Chris Finch who not only took Towns out for the marjority of crunch time last night even though Gobert and Edwards weren’t producing last night. He also never called timeouts during the fourth to recenter his team on winning when they were just giving KAT shots. I can get over all that he has been a great coach all year but then to hear him blame the players for being immature I lost it. His best player is twenty two years old he is going to be immature at times it’s his job as coach to make sure that doesn’t happen when losses can be had. The other person I blame for last night is the person who told Mike Conley the engine that drives this team he could have a rest day. NAW, Shake Milton, and JMAC all can’t play good NBA point guard minutes. I hope the Wolves learn from this as we get closer to the trade deadline and find a backup PG.
